About Us

About a year ago, Mark, Mike, and George we were lounging at Mark’s humble abode. Hungry. There was, however, one big problem--although they knew WHERE they wanted to order from, they did not know WHAT they wanted to eat. Yes, there were sites that allowed them to rummage through menus and customer reviews; there also were sites that allowed them to order food. What was missing was a venue that allowed them to know what specific dishes to eat at a restaurant based on recommendations from friends. And, like that, Appetude was born. A platform for your appetite’s attitude.

What Is Appetude?

Appetude is the social network for food. We aim to combine food discovery with food utility. We bring recommendations from your friends, to your profile page, to your stomach. Whether you're at home or on the go, our social menu will make sure you find the perfect meal to satisfy your cravings.

How are we different from other menu and online ordering sites?

“What’s good to eat here?” We know this is the first question that comes to mind when looking at a menu or deciding what to order. This is why our focus is the DISH. We have transformed the ordinary menu into a social menu that allows for sharing pictures, comments and recommendations with friends. Now, you can explore tasty (and not so tasty) dishes from trusted sources like your friends and other users with similar tastes. And you can order these dishes from restaurants directly from our site!

Using Appetude

Think of Appetude as Facebook for food. Your Food Feed exists to tell you what is going on in your network of restaurants, dishes and friends. Once you discover a dish you like you will be taken to the restaurant profile page of that dish. Here you can experience that restaurant’s social menu and see pictures, comments and yums. If that restaurant has signed up for online ordering you can easily order for pickup or delivery. If not, you can request that the restaurant sign up for online ordering and we will contact them immediately! As we are in our Beta stage, we are currently serving the NYU area (East/West Village, NoHo, Greenwich). We will be expanding throughout New York City soon and are constantly adding new features to improve your Appetude experience.

Terms & Conditions

Appetude Innovations, Inc. ("Appetude") operates its website and mobile site, located at appetude.com and its blog, located at food.appetude.com (collectively, the "Sites"). Please read the following Terms of Use carefully before using Appetude or any of the Sites. 1. Applicability & Acceptance of These Terms of Use By viewing, using, accessing, browsing, or submitting any content or material on the Sites, you agree to these Terms of Use as a binding legal agreement between you and Appetude, without limitation or qualification. The term "you" or "You" shall refer to any person or entity who views, uses, accesses, browses or submits any content or material to the Sites. If you do not agree to these Terms of Use, then you may not use the Sites. Appetude reserves the right to modify these Terms of Use at any time without prior notice. You agree that each visit you make to the Sites shall be subject to the then-current Terms of Use, and continued use of the Sites now or following modifications in these Terms of Use confirms that you have read, accepted, and agreed to be bound by such modifications 2. Use of Sites By accessing this Web site you are agreeing to all of the terms, conditions, and statements included in this legal statement. The entirety of this site or any portion of this site may not be reproduced, duplicated, copied, sold, resold, or otherwise exploited for any commercial purpose that is not expressly permitted by Appetude. Appetude and its affiliates reserve the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, and/or cancel orders at its discretion, including, without limitation, if Appetude believes that customer conduct violates applicable law, disrupts our normal business activities, or is harmful to the interests of Appetude and its affiliates. Harm from Commercial Use. You agree that the consequences of commercial use or re-publication of content or information from the Sites may be so serious and incalculable that monetary compensation may not be a sufficient or appropriate remedy and that Appetude will be entitled to temporary and permanent injunctive relief to prohibit such use. 3. Site Content a. Nature of User Material. Some of the services offered by Appetude on the Sites allow you and others to post, transmit, display, publish, distribute, or otherwise submit public user generated material including, but not limited to, restaurant reviews, dish comments and blog entries, to the Sites (collectively, "Submissions"). You agree not to create any Submission that: i. contains vulgar, profane, abusive, hateful, or sexually explicit language, epithets or slurs, text in poor taste, inflammatory attacks of a personal, sexual, racial or religious nature, or expressions of bigotry, racism, discrimination or hate; ii. interferes with any third party's uninterrupted use and enjoyment of the Sites; iii. advertises, disparages, promotes or offers to trade any goods or services in any manner that does not comport with the purpose or spirit of the Sites, including, but not limited to, negative reviews posted by competing restaurants or allegations of health code violations; iv. is intended primarily to promote a cause or movement, whether political, religious or other; v. contains copyrighted content (copyrighted articles, illustrations, images, text, or other content) without the express permission of the owner of the copyrights in the content; vi. constitutes, promotes or encourages illegal acts, the violation of any right of any individual or entity, the violation of any local, state, national or international law, rule, guideline or regulation, or otherwise creates liability; vii. discloses any personal identifying information relating to or images of a minor without consent of a parent, guardian or educational supervisor; viii. Infringes any copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or other intellectual property right; ix. contains viruses or other harmful, disruptive or destructive files; x. harms or is inappropriate for minors to view; xi. links to any commercial or other website; and/or xii. is not otherwise in compliance with these Terms of Use. 4. User License Grant to Appetude. You grant Appetude, its affiliates, and related entities a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive right and license to use, copy, modify, display, archive, store, publish, transmit, perform, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works from all Submissions you provide to Appetude in any form, media, software or technology of any kind now existing or developed in the future. Without limiting the generality of the previous sentence, you authorize Appetude to include the Submissions you provide in a searchable format that may be accessed by users of the Sites. You also grant Appetude and its and related entities the right to use any Personally Identifiable Information (as that term is defined in Appetude’s Privacy Policy) included with any Submission in connection with the use, reproduction or distribution of such Submission. You also grant Appetude the right to use the Submission and any facts, ideas, concepts, know-how or techniques ("Information") contained in any Submission or communication you send to Appetude for any purpose whatsoever, including but not limited to, developing, manufacturing, promoting and/or marketing products and services. You grant all rights described in this paragraph in consideration of your use of the Sites, without compensation of any sort to you. Appetude does not claim ownership of Submissions. 5. Disclaimer of Responsibility for Material. You acknowledge and agree that Appetude does not control all Submissions, and disclaims any responsibility for such Submissions. Appetude specifically disclaims any duty, obligation, or responsibility, to review, screen, refuse to post, remove, or edit any Submissions. In addition, Appetude does not represent or warrant that any other content or information accessible via the Sites is accurate, complete, or current, including the menus, pricing or parking accessibility available from its partner restaurants. Price, description, menu content, product/service availability, parking accessibility and restaurant information are subject to change without notice. Appetude assumes no responsibility or liability for any errors or omissions in the content of the Sites. While Appetude does not charge you for using its services and does not add any additional charges (other than sales taxes and delivery) to the menu items it receives from its participating restaurants, Appetude offers some restaurant menus via other services. The price shown on the menu may include a markup by those services. 6. Proprietary Rights. You acknowledge and agree that the Sites contain proprietary information and content that is protected by intellectual property and other laws, and may not be used except as provided in these Terms of Use without advance, written permission of Appetude. Privacy

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like). Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32. The standard chunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation by H. Rackham.
